\\localhost\c$ - asks for login, while d$ opens the share
Hello!
Several times recently I had problem with system hard drive cable, so computer would freeze. After that I'm not able access administrative C$ share, neither locally, nor remotely.
The share exists, all other shares (including administrative) are accessible.
When I type in explorer \\localhost\c$ it pops up login prompt and it denies any login information, when I try \\localhost\d$ it shows the files just fine.
I also compared permissions on C:\ and D:\ drives, they are identical.
[UPDATE] it appears that any shares located on C:\ are not acceptable...[/UPDATE]
What could be the reason for this and how to fix it?
Thank you.1 person got this answerI do too

Anyone interested, I found what caused this in my case: Acronis True Image (WD Edition)
I got "lucky", because that program also screwed up some other LAN settings and on one of the shares I got "Not enough server storage is available to process this command" error message when tried access share from W7. After search an answer for that error I found this website which mentioned that Acronis True Image reported to be one of the reasons. After uninstalling it and reboot I got all my shares back working.
